A short, honest note
We believe in complete transparency. Below is exactly how every contribution to the Stories by Aradhana Foundation for Change is used, and how the Foundation for Change Circle (FCC) sustains the people, stories and care we have committed to.
If anything here is unclear, write to foundation@storiesbyaradhana.com. We respond personally.
For International Patrons
This page describes how charitable donations from Indian residents to the Foundation are used. If you are contributing from outside India, you are supporting our storytelling work as a paid digital member of M/s Stories by Aradhana (studio) — not as a donor to the Foundation. Your membership fee sustains the studio’s storytelling, editorial and impact-tracking work; the studio, in turn, funds continued care of individuals whose stories we document. See the international patron Terms for full details.
The promises
FCC contributions: a minimum of 75% goes directly to beneficiaries. Often significantly higher.
Crowdfunding campaigns: 100% of every contribution goes to the named individual and that cause alone.
The 75% promise
A minimum of 75% of every contribution received through FCC goes directly toward supporting the individuals whose stories we have documented. Depending on the urgency and needs at any given time, this figure is often significantly higher.
This is a floor, not a ceiling.
What “direct support” looks like
For beneficiaries like Deepali Ghosh, Dilip Ganguly, Mansukh Kaka and many others, continued care often includes:
- —Medical expenses and ongoing treatment.
- —Monthly ration and basic necessities.
- —Emergency assistance during crises.
- —Rehabilitation and follow-up support.
- —Other essential needs that arise over time.
Every request is carefully evaluated by our team based on urgency, need, and available resources. Contributions are pooled into a common fund that allows us to respond consistently — not only when an emergency campaign is launched.
Where the remaining contribution goes
The rest of the contribution sustains the work that makes these stories — and the continued support behind them — possible:
- —Travel and logistics to reach communities across India.
- —Research and verification of every story before we document it.
- —Production and editing of our films and reels.
- —Team and operational expenses for the small, dedicated group behind the camera.
- —Follow-up visits and impact tracking months and years after a story is published.
- —Reaching and supporting more people whose stories deserve to be told.
Two distinct paths — both transparent
The Foundation for Change Circle (FCC). A monthly recurring contribution that pools into our common fund. FCC sustains continuous care, follow-ups, and the search for new stories — month after month. A minimum of 75% of every contribution goes directly to beneficiaries; the rest sustains the work that makes these stories possible.
Crowdfunding campaigns for specific individuals. When we run a campaign for a named person, 100% of the funds raised go directly to that person and that purpose alone. These funds are completely ring-fenced, separately accounted for, separately reported, and never pooled with FCC funds.
This separation is intentional — and we will never blur the line.
Tax benefits
The Foundation is a registered Section 8 company, registered under Section 332 (erstwhile Section 12A) of the Income Tax Act. Donations are eligible for tax benefits under Section 354 (erstwhile Section 80G), subject to applicable laws.
- —FCC members receive an Income Tax Exemption certificate shared as per the applicable provisions of the Income Tax Act, in accordance with the statutory timeline after the end of the relevant Tax Year.
- —One-time donors receive an Income Tax Exemption certificate shared as per the applicable provisions of the Income Tax Act, in accordance with the statutory timeline after the end of the relevant Tax Year.
- —Please provide your PAN at the time of donation to enable us to issue an Income Tax Exemption certificate in your name.
Our commitment to transparency
FCC members receive periodic impact reports showing exactly how contributions have been utilised — which beneficiaries received support, what kind of care was provided, and which new stories were made possible by the community.
While we strive to support as many individuals as possible, our ability to do so will always depend on the resources available through FCC and the urgency of need at any given time.
Members of the Foundation for Change Circle also receive
- —Access to follow-ups and impact updates on the people we have documented.
- —Behind-the-scenes content from our shoots.
- —Early and exclusive updates on ongoing stories.
- —A closer look at how support is reaching beneficiaries.
- —Periodic reports showing how contributions have been utilised.
- —Special updates that are not shared publicly.
- —Half-yearly meetups over lunches and dinners.
- —An Income Tax Exemption certificate shared as per the applicable provisions of the Income Tax Act.
Most importantly — you become part of the journey behind these stories and the impact they create.
